KCB Bank Uganda has reaffirmed its commitment to financial inclusion and economic empowerment through MoPesa, its digital micro-credit and savings solution delivered in partnership with MTN MoMo.
The initiative is being promoted through the “Borrow. Pay. Back. Neela Neela.” campaign, which encourages customers to borrow responsibly, repay loans on time and develop financial habits that can improve their access to credit in the future.
Through MoPesa, customers can access short-term financing directly through the MTN Mobile Money platform, providing a convenient option for informal traders, micro-enterprises and underserved communities facing immediate cash-flow needs.
Customers can access the service by dialing 16545#, enabling them to manage short-term financial requirements while also building a stronger culture of saving and responsible borrowing.
Speaking at the campaign launch at Kalerwe Market in Kampala, Sheila Awori, Marketing Manager, Business and Corporate Banking at KCB Bank Uganda, said the initiative was designed to make financial services more accessible to ordinary Ugandans.
“Through MoPesa, we are encouraging Ugandans to borrow responsibly, repay on time and build towards a stronger financial future. Customers can simply dial 16545# to access MoPesa,” Awori said.
She added that KCB Bank Uganda remains committed to providing financial solutions that are relevant to the everyday needs of Ugandans.
The bank said the initiative forms part of its broader strategy to expand access to formal financial services and support grassroots economic activity.
By leveraging MTN’s extensive Mobile Money ecosystem, KCB said MoPesa brings digital financial services closer to customers, particularly individuals and small businesses that may face challenges accessing conventional credit.
The partnership also reflects the growing role of digital financial services in supporting financial resilience, enabling customers to respond to short-term financing needs while developing healthier financial management practices.
KCB Bank Uganda said it will continue leveraging digital innovation and partnerships to promote financial inclusion and contribute to a more economically resilient Uganda.
