Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services in Uganda (CoRSU) has unveiled its Annual Charity Walk with an ambitious target of raising UGX 400 million to support children living with disabilities.
The initiative, themed “Bring Hope to Children with Disability,” seeks to fund life-changing surgeries for 300 children, procure essential medical equipment, and renovate the hospital’s Outpatient Department.
The launch, held in Entebbe on Thursday, attracted corporate partners, civil society, community members, and the media, all united by a shared vision of promoting disability inclusion and expanding access to specialised medical services.
Speaking during the launch, Bakidde Aloysius, Chairperson of the CoRSU Walk Committee, commended the spirit of generosity that fueled last year’s campaign.
“The energy was palpable, the spirit of giving was infectious, and the results were truly life-changing. We raised over UGX 78 million, which enabled us to provide surgeries to 16 children, purchase physiotherapy equipment, and expand rehabilitation services. The smiles we saw and the parents’ tears of relief remain unforgettable,” he said.

CoRSU CEO, Robert Ochai, stressed the importance of the walk in bridging gaps in healthcare access for children with disabilities.
“Since its founding in 2006, CoRSU has stood on the belief that disability must never mean inability. In just over a decade, we have conducted more than 70,000 life-changing surgeries and rehabilitated over 100,000 patients. The CoRSU Walk calls on us to act and invest in possibilities for every child,” he noted.
According to the 2014 Uganda National Population and Housing Census, 12.5% of Ugandans live with a disability, with 92% of cases linked to treatable conditions. Experts estimate that up to 80% of disabilities among children could be prevented or managed if specialised services were more accessible.
Over the past three years, CoRSU has carried out an average of 5,246 surgeries and 12,500 therapy sessions annually, with children accounting for 80% of the beneficiaries.
Supporters can contribute to the campaign through MTN Mobile Money Paybill Code 599393 or Airtel Money Paybill 4369188, registered under CoRSU Hospital. For participation details, CoRSU Customer Care is available on 0761-002111 or 0761-002157.
