Double Q, one of Uganda’s leading automotive distribution organisations, has extended educational support to 35 vulnerable schoolchildren in Kalungu District, strengthening its commitment to community development through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
The intervention, implemented under Double Q’s Social and Ethical Responsibility pillar, is aimed at helping children from disadvantaged backgrounds remain in school and pursue their educational aspirations despite difficult social and economic circumstances.
The 35 beneficiaries are drawn from more than 20 schools across Kalungu District. They include children who have lost one or both parents, children from families affected by HIV/AIDS and persons with disabilities who face additional challenges in accessing and sustaining their education.
The support package will include school fees and scholastic materials, addressing some of the immediate financial pressures that can prevent vulnerable children from attending school consistently.

For many low-income households, the cost of education extends beyond tuition to books, stationery, uniforms, transport and other school requirements. These costs can become particularly difficult for families already facing loss of income, disability or other social challenges.
Double Q Managing Director Lin Yu said the company views its responsibility to communities as extending beyond its commercial activities.
“At Double Q, we believe that a successful business has a responsibility to contribute positively to the communities in which it operates,” Lin said.
He said the company’s CSR strategy is focused on generating meaningful and sustainable social impact, particularly in education, public health and community development.
“Education has the power to transform lives and communities. By supporting these 35 children, we are not simply meeting an immediate need; we are investing in their potential and giving them an opportunity to build a better future,” Lin said.
According to Lin, the initiative reflects Double Q’s belief that businesses can play a constructive role in addressing some of the social challenges affecting communities where they operate.
The company hopes that the intervention will ease pressure on beneficiary families while giving the children greater stability to concentrate on their studies and develop their talents.
Double Q Head of Marketing Richard Musani said the initiative was designed to provide practical assistance to children whose education has been disrupted or placed at risk by difficult circumstances.
“We recognise that for many families, the cost of school fees, books, stationery and other scholastic requirements can be a major challenge,” Musani said.
He added that children who have lost parents or are living with disabilities can face even greater barriers in accessing education and remaining in school.
“Our intention is to help remove some of these barriers so that these children can concentrate on learning and developing their potential,” Musani said.
Musani said the company was particularly encouraged by the geographical spread of the beneficiaries, with children coming from more than 20 schools across Kalungu District.
“This initiative is about putting our social responsibility commitment into action. We believe that every child deserves an opportunity to access quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances,” he said.
Sales Director – Sinotruk, Double Q Uganda, Jack Wang, said the company was proud to support 35 school-going children from more than 20 schools across Kalungu District, expressing hope that the intervention would ease some of the financial pressures facing the beneficiaries and their families.
“We hope this assistance with school fees and scholastic materials will ease some of the challenges faced by these children and their families and help the children remain focused on their education,” Wang said.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the opportunity by remaining committed to their studies and developing positive values.
“To the children receiving this support, I encourage you to study hard, respect your teachers and parents, and believe in yourselves. Your circumstances today do not determine your future,” Wang said.
He told the children that they have the potential to become professionals, entrepreneurs and leaders who will contribute to Uganda’s future development.
Wang also recognised the role played by parents, guardians and teachers in supporting the children, saying their guidance would remain critical to the beneficiaries’ success.
“To the parents, guardians and teachers, thank you for the important role you play in supporting and guiding these children. We hope our contribution will provide some relief and encouragement,” he said.
He said the initiative reflected Double Q and Sinotruk’s commitment to contributing to Uganda beyond their commercial operations.
“As Sinotruk and Double Q, we are proud to be part of Uganda’s development, not only through our business activities but also through initiatives that support communities and young people,” Wang said.
He thanked the leadership of Kalungu District and other stakeholders who contributed to making the educational support initiative possible.
The intervention highlights the role that private-sector companies can play in complementing government and community efforts to improve access to education.
While public education programmes remain central to Uganda’s human capital development agenda, private-sector support can provide additional resources to households and communities facing economic constraints.
For the beneficiaries, the assistance is expected to provide immediate relief to families while helping children continue their education with greater confidence and stability.
The initiative also forms part of Double Q’s broader approach to creating value beyond its core business operations. The company says its CSR activities are guided by a commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to the wellbeing and development of Ugandan communities.
Double Q is an automotive distribution organisation representing six core brands across commercial vehicles, construction and mining equipment, material handling, passenger vehicles and tyres.
Its portfolio includes Sinotruk light and heavy commercial vehicles, XCMG road construction and mining equipment, HELI material-handling forklifts, GWM passenger vehicles and Wanli full-spectrum tyres.
The company’s business activities connect it to several sectors of Uganda’s economy, including transport, construction, infrastructure development, logistics and manufacturing-related activity.
Double Q says its community initiatives are intended to complement these commercial activities by supporting social development and creating opportunities for communities to participate more fully in Uganda’s economic growth.
Education remains a key focus because investment in children can deliver benefits well beyond the immediate beneficiaries. Children who remain in school are better positioned to acquire the skills and knowledge required to participate in the labour market, start businesses and contribute to their communities.
By supporting 35 vulnerable children in Kalungu, Double Q is positioning its CSR programme around a long-term objective: helping remove some of the barriers that prevent disadvantaged children from reaching their educational potential.
