Slippery surfaces in bathrooms can cause falls, which can be fatal if you hit your head or neck on a hard surface.
Hitting your head on a hard surface can cause concussion. Blood from intracranial bleeding will then press against the brain and eventually cause death.
Since bathrooms are generally smaller than other rooms and yet have several hard surfaced fixtures, the chances that you will hit one or more of these surfaces greatly increases your chances of severe injury.
First of all, a lot of bathroom floors are very hard. They may be a ceramic tile floor, a hard vinyl floor, or maybe, in today’s World, a wooden or laminate flood.
Add on the fact that folks are using the water in the sink, taking a shower, on a very slippery surface, in a stall, or in a tub, as well as using the tub for a bath, you have the potential for very serious injuries.
Head injuries from hitting your head on a tub, glass shower door, hard floor, sink, et al, can occur, causing severe bleeding, lacerations, broken bones, unconsciousness and concussions.
Folks also use razors in the bathroom; women shave their legs, men shave their faces and so injuries with razor blades are common, but thankfully, not usually severe, unless someone cuts themselves with a motive to cause injury on purpose to themselves. It happens, unfortunately.
Of course, severe injuries can happen anywhere, but bathroom injuries, are included in the bunch because they tend to be small enclosed places filled with rock hard objects toilet, tub, sink and doorknobs, that do not move and are capable of crushing in a head, face or rib cage if fallen upon.
So, because of the small space, people actually find it harder to recover their balance should they slip or trip.
They’ll stub their toe on something or yank down the shower curtain as they’re frantically grabbing for a handhold.
How you avoid this risk is by becoming innovative in designing your bathroom floor and not merely copying what is trendy!
