Lwemiyaga County MP Theodore Ssekikubo says that he will hand over a list of MPs’ signatures to Clerk to Parliament Adolf Mwesigye on Monday, backing his move to censure Parliament commissioners who received a UGX 500 million service award each.
While addressing the media at parliament he has revealed that 186 MPs have so far signed the motion calling for the censure of the four Commissioners accused of controversially awarding themselves Shs1.7Bn Service Award.
He recounts several challenges the motion has faced, including allegations of stolen signatures and attempts to steal the file.
In addition, he notes that MPs from 37 districts totally declined to sign the motion in addition to the UPDF Representatives in Parliament as well as MPs representing the Elderly, while amongst the Workers MPs, only Byakatonda Abdulha, backed the motion.
On May 21st Lawmakers, alongside others, embarked on the process to collect signatures.
The Parliamentary Commission’s leaked documents show how in May 2022 the former Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Mathias Mpuuga, commissioner Solomon Silwany, Prossy Akampurira, and Esther Afoyochan met and shared the money.
