Police investigating the death of Martha Ahumuza Murari have uncovered crucial new evidence, shedding light on the events leading up to her death.
Detectives have retrieved WhatsApp messages exchanged between Ahumuza and Edward Mugabo, a cashier at Mezo Noir Bar in Kololo, Kampala, who is now a prime suspect in the case.
According to a preliminary police report, Ahumuza arranged to meet Mugabo at the bar on the night she died. In their conversation, she is said to have asked whether he would be at Mezo Noir that Wednesday night, seemingly aware that her mother was away on a business trip in Dubai.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows Ahumuza entering an office inside the bar with Mugabo. Shortly afterward, Mugabo was seen rushing out in distress, calling for help from his brother, Joseph Kalenzi. By the time Ahumuza collapsed, the bar had already closed, leaving only four people on the premises.
A medical examination revealed that Ahumuza had been sexually assaulted before losing consciousness. She was taken to Kampala Hospital, where she was pronounced dead the following day.
A post-mortem examination was carried out, and samples from her internal organs have been sent to the Government Analytical Laboratory for further testing.
