The Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Ltd (UETCL) will participate in the inaugural Africa Energy Expo (AEE) in Kigali, Rwanda, from November 4-6, 2024.
Organized by Informa Markets, the expo will convene key stakeholders and decision-makers across Africa’s energy sector, including government officials, energy regulators, and corporate leaders committed to advancing affordable and clean energy initiatives.
The Africa Energy Expo aims to address energy challenges and advance Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7) on affordable and clean energy. It also aligns with the Africa Power Vision’s objectives, focusing on enhancing energy access, efficiency, and sustainability across the continent.
Over 150 exhibitors are expected to attend, featuring innovations in renewable and clean energy solutions, smart technologies, and energy management.
Companies such as Tanzania’s TANESCO, Morocco’s ONEE, Malawi’s EgenCo, Rwanda’s Solektra, and UETCL will represent their nations’ strides toward energy transformation.
Ade Yesufu, Exhibition Director at Informa Markets, expressed optimism for the expo’s impact, calling it a “milestone for Africa’s energy sector.”
He highlighted the collaborative atmosphere expected to foster “transformative strategies” for Africa’s energy future, accelerating renewable energy adoption and facilitating investment in new technologies.
The event will feature several pivotal discussions, including a Leadership Summit focused on “Investments, integration, infrastructure, and governance to fuel the energy transition.”
Topics will range from designing carbon market mechanisms and financing rural electrification to exploring green hydrogen and gas-to-power infrastructure as sustainable energy options.
Notable speakers include Rwanda’s Minister of Infrastructure Dr. Jimmy Gasore, Malawi’s Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola, and Uganda’s CEO of the Electricity Regulatory Authority, Eng. Ziria Tibalwa Waako.
