A powerful hailstorm struck the Kalangala District Police Station early this morning, March 15, 2025, leaving a trail of destruction and tragedy in its wake.
The storm, which originated from the eastern side of Kalangala, battered the police barracks at around 7:21 am, destroying officers’ accommodations and tearing off part of the administration block’s roof. The violent weather event also caused widespread damage across the community.

Tragically, three people lost their lives in the disaster, including D/Sgt Mujasi Micheal and two unidentified civilians. Several other police officers and community members sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Kalangala HCIV for urgent medical attention.

Authorities have confirmed that rescue efforts are ongoing as emergency teams work to assess the full extent of the damage and provide aid to those affected. The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Kalangala Hospital mortuary for further arrangements.

SP Kasirye Twaha, the Greater Masaka Regional Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and assured the public that response teams are fully engaged.
Residents and officials remain on high alert as they brace for further potential weather threats.
