The Provincial Assembly of the Anglican Church of Uganda has commenced at Nkoyoyo Hall, located within Uganda Christian University (UCU), Mukono. The Assembly, which is the supreme governing body of the Church, is chaired by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu.

Held every two years, the Provincial Assembly serves as the legislative authority for the Church of Uganda. It brings together representatives from the Houses of Laity, Clergy, and Bishops, with each diocese across the country sending delegates to participate. The gathering is a key event in the Church’s calendar, setting the direction for its mission and governance.
During this Assembly, participants will discuss a wide range of issues affecting the Church and its followers. The Assembly’s decisions will shape the Church’s policies, practices, and priorities for the coming years.
Archbishop Kaziimba, who is presiding over the Assembly, emphasized the importance of unity and collective responsibility among the Church’s leadership and members. He highlighted the Assembly’s role in guiding the Church’s mission and ensuring that it continues to serve as a beacon of hope and faith in Uganda.

The Provincial Assembly is expected to address pressing issues within the Church and the broader society, with discussions likely to touch on matters of faith, social justice, and community development. The outcomes of these discussions will be instrumental in shaping the future of the Church of Uganda.
This year’s Assembly takes on added significance as the Church navigates challenges both within and outside its community, seeking to strengthen its role in Ugandan society and beyond.
