The African School of Governance (ASG) has launched a transformative Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, positioning Uganda and the continent for a new era of ethical, African-centered leadership.
The announcement follows the conclusion of ASG’s Pan-African presidential tour, which included key stops in Lagos, Cairo, Maputo, Abidjan, and a culminating Governance Summit in Nairobi.
Set to begin in September 2025, the MPA program targets mid-career professionals and aims to address Africa’s governance challenges through locally-informed, globally-supported education. It is delivered in partnership with the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and other leading institutions.
“This is the beginning of a leadership renaissance,” said Professor Kingsley Moghalu, President of ASG and former Deputy Governor of Nigeria’s Central Bank. “Africa must look inward for solutions. Our curriculum is rooted in African realities, traditions, and aspirations.”
Uganda, recognized for its Pan-African legacy and contributions to regional peacekeeping and integration, stands to benefit significantly. With a growing, youthful population and an evolving public sector, the country is well-positioned to lead Africa’s governance transformation.
The MPA program emphasizes ethical leadership, policy reform, and regional integration. It incorporates real-world African governance cases, executive training, and a focus on innovation, trade, and development.
Key modules include public governance, political economy, regional cooperation, and the role of science and technology in policy.
Open to Ugandans aged 25–50, the program targets civil servants, local government officials, youth leaders, and policy advisors. It aims to equip them with the tools to not only impact national policy but also influence East Africa’s regional trajectory.
ASG’s launch marks a bold step toward reshaping Africa’s leadership landscape—with Uganda at the forefront.
